Abbey's Birthday!

We spent the morning having a great time celebrating Abbey's first birthday.

Dec and Abbey go back a long way. Here she is on her big day

Cooking up a storm with James.

Dec trying to follow in Daddy's footsteps reading plain films.

Birthday girl with mom Nicole.

Dec had 3 pieces of cake, and was still stuffing his piehole when all the other kids had returned to play.

I want to be a Millionaire.

I got selected today to be a contestant on the primetime version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? airing this August. I leave for NYC on August 2nd! Until then, must try and learn more things; will be difficult, as my mind is greatly preoccupied with wondering: "What should I buy with my million dollars??"

Wish me luck!

Huzzah for Carpooling, and Supplemental Restraint Systems.

Went to the pool today and had difficulty fitting us all in the car- Lori, Mikayla, Declan, inflatable whale pool toy and I. Here's the view of the backseat of my tiny fuel-efficient car.

Heifer Ranch

My sister and niece are visiting from Canada, so we went for a visit to the Heifer Ranch. Heifer Ranch is an educational facility operated by Heifer International, a charity that sends livestock to poor families to empower them to make a living from the animals. Check it out http://www.heifer.org/ You can buy a hive of bees, chickens, a goat or a water buffalo or just about anything else and donate it to a family half way around the world.
Mikayla fed a camel, and Declan faced off with a goat.

Puppies in baskets, where they belong.

We have been waiting for one of these Springer pups since before they were born. They are six weeks old now, and we still don't know if we are going to be lucky enough to get one, but I thought I would share the picture, cause who doesn't love a basket full of puppies? Everyone loves a basket full of puppies.

Happy Anniversary Us!

Shane and I went to Dallas for the weekend, to stay at the Mansion at Turtle Creek sans baby. It was really nice, and we got to cross another thing off of our 1000 Places to See Before We Die list. Only 963 to go. We spent two days doing all those fun things that are hard to do with a toddler around: spa treatments, shopping, fine dining and sleeping in. It was lots of fun, but that was the longest we had been away from Declan, and we were glad to see him this morning when we came home.

This was my greatest shopping find: An Obsessive - Compulsive Action figure, with moist towellette included.

Faux Fourth of July

We went to a cookout chez Glasgow on Friday. The pool scene was really happening. Singles mingled. I was hoping to celebrate Independence Day by firing some pistols in the air. Not allowed in city limits apparently - Not so free after all, eh?

You just never know.

If someone had told me 5 years ago that I would be spending my 2nd wedding anniversary in a TGIFridays in Little Rock, Arkansas and that I be happy about it, I would have told them to put down the crackpipe, but here we are today.

We weren't really celebrating our anniversary at a TGIFridays- it, surprisingly enough has a good live trivia night, and we are on a real kick these days. It just happened to be our anniversary today. We are doing our actual celebrating this weekend with a spa retreat sans baby at the Mansion at Turtle Creek in Dallas. It's a very special anniversary for us as it commemorates the end of the two year period in which Shane has been able to have me deported on a whim. So he can take INS off of speed dial, and I can finally get my sass on.
