Egg Quest 2010 Part Deux

Since we were thwarted at the Clinton Library, I decided to invite a few of Declan's friends over today for a practice egg hunt to get Declan trained up for the big time public hunts this weekend. Sounds like fun, right? So why the sourpuss? Maybe because he was getting schooled in egg collection by a bunch of girls. Out of 70 eggs seeded on the front lawn, Declan managed to get only one into his bunny basket. One. There were only 4 other kids there!

So what went wrong? I think it was a lack of motivation. He didn't realize that the eggs contained something. After all the eggs have beeen hunted and gathered, here is the exact moment when Shane helps Declan open his one and only easter egg and Declan realizes that there is CHOCOLATE inside those eggs. Oh snap!
So now he starts to surreptiously sneak eggs from the girls' baskets. Dirty pool. But everyone seemed to have a good time anyway.

Egg Quest 2010

So Shane, Declan and I headed down to the Clinton presidential Library for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt which was going on between 10 and 2 pm. We arrived at noon only to be told that they had run out of eggs. You and me both, Clinton Presidential Library.
It wasn't a total washout- they had like 50 drums set out on the lawn for the kids to bang.

And there was a petting zoo.
Declan who is moving solidly into big boy territory
has been given a chore that he has to do every day at home - feeding the dogs. Those mad skillz came in handy at the petting zoo. Declan fed those animals like a seasoned farmhand.

Happy 3rd Birthday Kate!

Kate planned an excellent party for everyone to enjoy.

Very challenging to get 6 kids to all look in the same place at the same time!

Even at a party, Declan is all business!

Kate shared one of her new presents- a colouring book.

Declan killed it in the Ring Around the Rosie. Thanks Kate for a great party!

Nicole's Birthday Wish Comes True

Napus Interruptus

I never get to see Declan sleeping anymore. When he was younger Shane and I used to sneak in his room every night before we went to bed to watch him snooze for awhile, but after he turned a year old it got so that he would wake up whenever we came in the room. So we stopped our night time visits but I really miss seeing him sleeping. Today I had to wake him up from his nap in order to go to Kate's birthday party, so I got to see him asleep again. Now he looks much more chilled out than he used to.

At the park

De
Declan and Abby had a great time at the park together until Declan snuck onto the back of her horse.

Then the party was over!

Heaven help me.

So we are about to start our first crack at IVF and I'm really freaking out about all the drugs. These are all the pills I have to take. I'm not kidding when I say that this is more prescription medication than I have taken in my entire life. I just say no to drugs! And that's not even anything compared to what I have to inject in me!

Look at this! In the blue boxes? Needles. In the 4 pint glasses? Needles. In the white boxes? Stuff to be sucked up into needles. Each box has 20 vials inside. And I'm supposed to shoot all this stuff into me in the next two weeks.

This is what Shane has to take. A course of antibiotics. I think they probably should have put in some painkillers for him because I am going to be riding the crazy train for the next two weeks.

I'm keeping close to me the handiwork of my dear friend Peter- signmaker extraordinaire of the Judson Memorial Church in Manhattan. Special shout out to me this week - Thanks Peter!

Everyone Loves Phoebe

Phoebe had an Olympic experience too- as driver of Declan's two-man bobsled team.

Phoebe enjoyed getting to come to Canada and everyone there enjoyed getting to meet her. Everybody loves Phoebe!

Declan and Phoebe shared their first dip in the Pacific!

Vancouver 2010

We managed against all odds to squeeze in a trip to the Olympics in Vancouver. We had a great time and I am so glad we went. The Olympics were amazing - I've never seen my hometown quite like that before. I only went to three events- it was hard to get tickets but I saw Canada win three gold medals and saw 3 victory ceremonies with the Canadian anthem played three times. I got teary every time! The rest of the time we just wandered around the city witnessing the huge neverending street party. No other word for it than bonhomie really. I have never seen so much naked pride in Vancouver and in Canada. We were so glad to have taken part.
The Olympics shares my love of the novelty photo shoot as you can see.
