Happy Birthday James!

James turned 2 today! We had a good time at the park - lots of slides for everyone and lots of brownies for Declan.

Ever wonder what they are thinking?

In about ten minutes I am going to start vomiting prodigiously. Get some in the pool. Get some on the deck. Get some on mommy. See if I can't shut down the Athletic Club's pool.

I never knew it could be like this.

No Seatbelt?!??

In the back of an NYC taxicab with Shane and my Mom and Dad. First time in a car without a seatbelt! First time in a car frontward facing! It blew his mind.

Declan runs away to join the circus.

Here is Declan bustin a move. He will randomly start to dance whenever he meets a cute girl at the playground. The arm swinging and weird crouching walk thing are his go-to moves.

So far it has got him nowhere.

Saturday Night Lights

We went to watch the Hogs season opener here against Missouri State. The game was fun to watch and a beautiful night at the stadium. I love the way that Arkansas just gives itself over to football: Need a place to park while you drink tons of beer before the game? Here - park on this handy golf course. The grass will grow back. I admire that kind of commitment- to spectator sports and to tailgating.

I need somebody.

Declan has been a bit behind the curve on his speech so it is extra special for us when he adds a new word. So far he says: Mama Dada Na (for Nellie) and NaNa (for banana). We have also been teaching him some sign language to help develop his communication skills. Just this past week he has started to sign with his personal version of the American Sign Language sign for "help" and it melts my heart a little every time he does it.
