On Saturday morning, Shane and I took Declan to a pancake breakfast fundraiser with Santa at the Children's Hospital. It was a very cute event, with all the kiddos dressed up to have their picture taken with Santa. Declan was very excited to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what he wanted for Christmas ("a new Lightning", as in Lightning McQueen, I presume, although with this kid, one never knows) I was so glad that Declan was keen on Santa, as, if you remember last year, Declan didn't get hyped about Santa until Boxing Day.
Now Declan was the very last child, after a five-hour straight photo shoot, to get his photo taken with Santa, and I guess Santa had run out of beans, as he didn't ask Declan what he wanted for Christmas. So later that day we went to Petsmart to pick up some stocking stuffers for Phoebe and Nellie, and
lo and behold, there was another Santa there greeting the customers. Petsmart Santa said "hello" to Declan, who didn't reply. Declan started to walk away so I asked him to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas. Declan just sighed and said, "Mom, that's just a man in a Santa costume." He wasn't having any of it. Is that it for Christmas magic, oh three-year-old of mine? Sheesh.
